Men’s Soccer unable to answer the bell in A-R-C Quarterfinal loss to Simpson

LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska Wesleyan men's soccer gave up goals in the opening two minutes of both halves and ultimately couldn't overcome the deficit, falling to Simpson in the A-R-C Quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon at Abel Stadium.

The Prairie Wolves finish the season 6-9-1 overall, while Simpson improves to 6-6-4 and advances to the A-R-C semifinals.

Iain Macrae gave the visiting Storm a 1-0 lead just 60 seconds into the contest, beating two defenders at the top of the box before squeezing a shot past the goalkeeper for his fourth goal of the season.

The two teams battled through the remainder of the first half, but Simpson carried its one-goal advantage into the break.

Simpson continued to push offensively and extended its lead in the 47th minute on a goal by Parker Zeller.

The Prairie Wolves began to build some momentum late in the second half, and Wil Tobaben capitalized on a failed clearance in the 87th minute to cut the deficit to 2-1.

With time winding down in the 90th minute, Nebraska Wesleyan earned one final corner kick and brought goalkeeper Christian Lindseth forward to join the attack. Franklyn Herasme got his head on the ball, but his attempt was stopped by a Storm defender. The rebound fell to Lindseth, whose shot clanged off the crossbar as time expired.

The Prairie Wolves outshot the Storm 6-2 in the opening half, with Lindseth making one save.

Nebraska Wesleyan held a commanding 16-6 advantage in shots in the second half, but Simpson finished with the edge in corner kicks for the game.

The two teams combined for 27 fouls in a physical A-R-C quarterfinal matchup.

The Prairie Wolves have concluded their 2026 season.
