MOUNT VERNON, Iowa –Senior midfielder
Owen Glogowski recorded his first career hat trick as the Nebraska Wesleyan University men's soccer team rolled to a 7-0 victory over Cornell College on Tuesday in Mount Vernon, Iowa.
Glogowski became the first Prairie Wolf to record a hat trick since Thomas Pisasale in 2024 as Nebraska Wesleyan scored its most goals in a game since 2019, when the Prairie Wolves scored 12 in a win over Nebraska Christian.
The Prairie Wolves (2-2-1) earned their first road win of the season after scoring twice in the first half and five more after halftime against the Rams (0-4-1).
Glogowski scored Nebraska Wesleyan's first, fourth and sixth goals of the match. He opened the scoring in the fourth minute with an unassisted goal before adding his second in the 54th minute off a service from Hayden Byarlay.
Glogowski completed the hat trick in the 81st minute after finishing a connection from Henry Spethman. He now leads the Prairie Wolves with three goals this season.
Connor Currence doubled the lead in the 43rd minute, scoring off a pass from Caden Carpenter. Currence's goal marked his first of the season.
Wil Tobaben added his first goal of the season in the 53rd minute, and Henry Spethman followed with his first collegiate goal in the 78th minute.
Max Matthies capped the scoring in the 82nd minute with his second goal of the season off a pass from Tobaben.
Spethman, Tobaben, Byarlay and Carpenter each recorded an assist.
Nebraska Wesleyan controlled play throughout the match, finishing with a 26-9 advantage in shots and a 16-2 edge in shots on goal. The Prairie Wolves also held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The Nebraska Wesleyan defense posted its second clean sheet of the season, limiting Cornell to just nine shots and two shots on goal. Senior goalkeeper Christian Lindseth made two saves in the victory.
Nebraska Wesleyan will return to action at 7 p.m. (CT) Friday at (RV) Southwestern.
