LINCOLN, Neb. — The Nebraska Wesleyan men's tennis team wasted no time making a statement in American Rivers Conference play, sweeping Buena Vista 7-0 Wednesday at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Center to improve to 3-4 overall and 1-0 in the A-R-C.

The Prairie Wolves controlled the match from the opening point, winning all three doubles matches before rolling through singles competition without dropping a set.

NWU swept the doubles point behind a clean performance across all three courts. Ashton Rames and Sam Rademacher opened things up with a 6-1 win at No. 1, while Riley Voss and Gavin Nichols followed with a 6-0 victory at No. 2. Armbrust and Briggs moved to 4-0 as a tandem this season, while Armbrust's seventh doubles win of the year continues one of the team's quieter standout performances.

Voss, Rademacher and Armbrust have each won four consecutive doubles matches. Nichols has won five straight.

Singles

The momentum carried into singles, where NWU won all six matches in straight sets. Voss set the tone at No. 1, defeating Nick Hiney 6-2, 6-2. Gavin Nichols followed at No. 2 with an identical 6-2, 6-2 victory. Zac Briggs was dominant at No. 3, blanking his opponent, 6-0, 6-0.
