PENSACOLA, Fla. — Nebraska Wesleyan dropped the second game of its spring break trip Wednesday evening, falling to Sewanee, 10-4, at Blue Wahoos Stadium. The Prairie Wolves fell to 2-5 on the season while Sewanee improved to 10-4-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Nebraska Wesleyan managed five hits on the night but never strung more than one together in any inning, limiting any chance for a sustained rally. Owen Duckworth got things started with a double down the right field line in the second.
The Prairie Wolves plated their first run in the third when Jaxon Volkmer lifted a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Sam Schaefer to tie the game at 1-1. Nebraska Wesleyan took its only lead in the fourth. Easton Johnson, Eli Eldred and Duckworth loaded the bases with nobody out, and Brady Bell followed with a sacrifice fly to right, scoring Johnson. Ryan Ruggiero then singled to left, plating Eldred to make it 3-2. Nebraska Wesleyan added its final run in the eighth on a Duckworth groundout.
Garrett Walsh started on the mound and worked six innings. Freshman Ryan Johnson was credited with the loss. Trent Herrboldt tossed a scoreless ninth.
