HASTINGS, Neb. — Nebraska Wesleyan collected its first victory of the 2026 season Tuesday afternoon, defeating Hastings College 5-2 at the Doris Becker Tennis Facility. The Prairie Wolves even their record at 1-1 in the second match of the spring.
How it happened
Nebraska Wesleyan established control early by sweeping doubles play to claim the opening point. Ian Armbrust and Sam Rademacher edged Aden Ingwerson and Joel Carter 7-5 at No. 1. Gavin Nichols and Glenn McChristian followed with a 6-4 win at No. 2, and Riley Voss and Ashton Rames completed the sweep with a 6-1 decision at No. 3.
The momentum carried into singles. Nichols delivered a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Ben Hafer at No. 2, while Zac Briggs was sharp in a 6-0, 6-4 win against Alex Hafer at No. 3.
McChristian added a 6-4, 6-2 result at No. 4, and Rademacher closed the door with a 6-2, 6-0 performance at No. 6 to secure the team victory.
Hastings picked up points at No. 1 and No. 5 singles. Ashton Rames fell in straight sets at the top spot, and Voss dropped a tightly contested match tiebreaker, 11-9, after splitting sets.
