VERMILLION, S.D. - Senior Avery Decker added another chapter to her storied career, launching the javelin 47.01m (154-02) to capture second place and etch her name deeper into NCAA Division III history at the USD Tune-Up Meet this weekend.
Decker's throw ranks as the 20th-farthest throw in Division III history, adding to her collection of all-time marks that now includes the 8th, 15th, 20th, 21st, and 23rd best performances in the division's record books.
The Prairie Wolves collected multiple top-10 finishes and personal bests across both days of competition at the Lillibridge Track Complex, facing off against athletes from all divisions.
Field Event Highlights
Sophomore Emmilly Berglund continued her breakout season in the throws, placing fourth in shot put with a mark of 13.80m (45-03.50) and fifth in discus with a throw of 44.96m (147-06). Her discus performance moved her to 17th in the Division III rankings.
Senior Eric Lenz climbed to third in school history in the hammer throw with his fifth-place finish of 55.88m (183-04), now ranking 35th nationally. Junior Colin Wojtkiewicz demonstrated his versatility in the throws, placing seventh in both hammer (55.60m/182-05) and shot put (15.45m/50-08.25).
In the men's high jump, senior Eli Mackowski cleared 1.99m (6-06.25) to place sixth, while freshman Samuel Clements finished fifth in shot put with a throw of 15.91m (52-02.50).
Track Event Highlights
Junior McClain Meyer led the men's sprint contingent with a personal best 48.81 in the 400m, good for sixth place. Senior Morgan Conner delivered a strong performance in the 200m with a 21.83 clocking (sixth place) and added an 11th-place finish in the long jump at 6.80m (22-03.75).
The women's squad saw junior Raegan Levi post solid marks in both sprints, running 12.43 in the 100m and 25.65 in the 200m. Junior Delaney Vacek won her section of the women's 800m in 2:21.01.
Senior Trystin Myers posted a time of 14.94 in the 110m hurdles, while sophomore Connor Plahn led a strong NWU showing in the 400m hurdles with a fifth-place finish in 54.96.
The relay teams impressed as well, with the men's 4x100m quartet of Austin Nauert, Morgan Conner, McClain Meyer, and Ghaith Taha posting a season-best 41.32 to rank 47th nationally. The women's 4x100m team of Keeley Hourigan, Raegan Levi, Chloe Mooberry, and Natalie Cummins clocked 47.82 to place fourth.
