CRETE, Neb. - The Nebraska Wesleyan track and field teams delivered a strong showing at the Doane Quadrangular on Tuesday, highlighted by event wins, personal bests, and performances that climbed both school and national leaderboards.
How It Happened
The Prairie Wolves dominated the throws, led by Avery Decker and Aliah Clarke in the women's javelin. Decker launched a season-best 44.20m (145-00), moving her to No. 2 in the nation, while Clarke set a new PR of 39.97m (131-01), improving her school record standing (6th all-time) and jumping to 15th nationally.
Emmilly Berglund continued her breakout season, winning the women's shot put with a 14.13m (46-4.25) heave, which is now No. 7 in program history and No. 2 in the country. On the men's side, Sam Clements reset his momentum in the shot put, hitting 16.14m (52-11.50) to claim the freshman record, 7th all-time at NWU and 11th nationally.
The women's 4x100m relay (Keeley Hourigan, Raegan Levi, Chloe Mooberry, Natalie Cummins) opened their season with a blazing 47.59, slotting them at No. 7 in school history and No. 15 in Division III.
On the track, Delaney Vacek dropped a massive PR in the 800m, clocking 2:18.12 to move to 8th in NWU history. Morgan Conner blazed to a win in the men's 200m (21.54), while Ghaith Taha (10.84, +4.2m/s) and McClain Meyer (21.83) added top finishes in the sprints.
In the field, Kaelyn Means won the women's discus (45.63m/149-08) and was runner up in hammer throw (45.54m/149-05). Colin Wojtkiewicz (hammer, 52.33m/171-08) and Eric Lenz (shot put, 15.46m/50-8.75) powered the men's throws crew.
