Box Score LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska Wesleyan men's tennis opened American Rivers Conference play in convincing fashion Saturday, sweeping Buena Vista 7-0 in Storm Lake, Iowa. The Prairie Wolves (3-5, 1-0 A-R-C) won all but one match against a much-improved Beavers squad, to get back in the win column.

The tone was set early in doubles. Senior
Jacob Balfany and sophomore
Glenn McChristian cruised to a 6-4 win at No. 1.The duo of
Gavin Nichols and
Tyler Blair dropped a 6-4 match at No. 2. The final doubles battle came at No. 3, where senior
Connor Kelley and sophomore
Ian Armbrust grinded out a 6-2 victory to secure the doubles point.
Singles was all NWU. Ferguson dropped just six games total in a 6-4, 6-2 rout at No. 1, while Nichols rolled 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2. Armbrust (No. 4), McChristian (No. 5), and Kelley each won in two sets. The lone resistance came at No. 3, where Blair battled through a first-set tiebreak to win 7-6 (7-5), 6-2.
Match Notes
- NWU has now beaten BVU nine straight times since joining the A-R-C.
- Nichols and Blair both improved to 4-4 in singles play this season.
