LAWRENCE, Kan. / KEARNEY, Neb. — Nebraska Wesleyan track & field delivered standout performances across two states this weekend, with relay teams advancing to finals at the prestigious Kansas Relays and event wins highlighting Saturday's Loper Invitational.
Kansas Relays (April 17-19)
At the Kansas Relays, the NWU women's 4x100-meter relay team of Keeley Hourigan, Raegan Levi, Chloe Mooberry, and Natalie Cummins earned a spot in Saturday's final after clocking a 47.76 in prelims. The men's 4x400-meter relay, featuring Morgan Conner, McClain Meyer, Gavin Vlcan and Connor Plahn, also secured a spot in the final in a loaded relay field.
Loper Invitational (April 19)
Back in Nebraska, NWU put together a strong showing at the Loper Invitational with several top-five finishes and two event wins. Eli Mackowski continued to build on a strong outdoor campaign by tying his career best in the high jump at 2.10 meters (6'10.75"), a mark that currently ranks No. 2 in NCAA Division III. On the throws side, Kaelyn Means launched a new personal best in the hammer throw with a toss of 49.52 meters (162'2"), improving her hold on the No. 8 spot in program history.
Emmilly Berglund picked up where she left off, dominating the women's discus with a winning mark of 44.82 meters (147'0"). She also finished third in the shot put with a throw of 13.83 meters (45'4.5"). NWU swept the top three spots in the discus, with first-year Aspin Collins (43.24m) and sophomore Kaelyn Means (42.59m) taking second and third.
Freshman Madison Demke clocked a 29.43 in the 200 meters, while Averie Hike and Jersey Koza placed sixth and seventh in the 400 meters, respectively. In the women's 1500 meters, Alexis O'Connell led a group of three NWU runners with a time of 5:45.48. Emily Druse placed eighth in the pole vault (3.24m) and ninth in the long jump (4.79m), while Lyndsie Bosquez added a runner-up finish in the shot put with a mark of 12.10 meters (39'8.5").
