Third-Quarter Surge Comes Up Short as Women's Basketball Falls to Coe

LINCOLN, Neb. - Nebraska Wesleyan mounted a strong second-half push, highlighted by an efficient third quarter, but couldn't complete the comeback in a 64-53 setback to Coe on Saturday afternoon at Snyder Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Quarter
Nebraska Wesleyan scored their first seven points of the afternoon behind buckets from Alison Davis, Anastyn Pettlon and a Brynn Sebek three. After that early burst, Coe found its rhythm in transition and on the offensive glass, using a 16-0 run to open up separation. The Prairie Wolves trailed 25-9 after one.

Second Quarter
The Prairie Wolves settled in defensively and began to chip away. Sebek and Carney Black helped trim the deficit early, and Caroline Eastman knocked down a three for the first points of her collegiate career. Coe answered late, capitalizing on a brief Nebraska Wesleyan scoring drought to take a 36-19 lead into halftime.

Third Quarter
Nebraska Wesleyan flipped momentum coming out of the break. Sebek and Peyton Tritz orchestrated an offensively efficient quarter as the Prairie Wolves shot 75 percent from the floor and poured in 22 points. The surge pulled Nebraska Wesleyan within three heading into the final period.

Fourth Quarter
The Prairie Wolves stayed within striking distance throughout the fourth, cutting the deficit to single digits multiple times. Coe's defensive pressure created key turnovers early in the quarter, and the Kohawks executed down the stretch to preserve the win.
