COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. (November 8, 2025) – Nebraska Wesleyan Wrestling turned in another strong early-season performance at the Haws/Elton Rumble hosted by Saint John's University (Minnesota) on Saturday. Sixteen Prairie Wolves competed in the second tournament of the 2025-26 campaign, with eight individuals earning top-three finishes. No team scores were kept at the event.
Junior 133-pounder Jimmy Macias led the way for the Prairie Wolves with a first-place finish. The Delano, California native improved to 4-2 on the year after going 2-0 in Collegeville, picking up a dominant tech fall before recording a first-period pin against teammate Ivan Duero in the championship match.
At 125 pounds, Quinton Chavez battled to a runner-up finish, posting a 3-1 record with all three of his victories coming by pin. Trev Halsey added another second-place showing at 165 after going 3-1 on the day, while Casey Kinnell took runner-up honors at 184 with a 2-1 record, including a pin.
Nebraska Wesleyan's depth was also on display at 157 pounds, where duo Cy Peterson and Kellen Monroe rolled through their brackets to meet in the title bout. Both wrestlers went unbeaten in their first two matches, each earning a pin and a decision, before forfeiting in the finals.
At 149 pounds, Michael Barretto claimed third place after a strong showing in his bracket, while heavyweight Donovan Mann also finished third to round out NWU's eight placewinners.
The performance capped a busy weekend for Head Coach Colton McCrystal's squad, which wrestled a dual against Saint John's the night before the tournament. With several underclassmen and reserves gaining valuable experience, the Prairie Wolves continue to build momentum in the young season after opening last weekend at the Luther Hill Open.
