Colton McCrystal

Head coach Colton McCrystal is heading into his third season at Nebraska Weslyan University. Colton McCrystal was named Nebraska Wesleyan University's head wrestling coach in September of 2024, as announced by Director of Athletics Dwight Merilatt.

McCrystal is a widely respected competitor and decorated athlete in the wrestling community. He served as a resident athlete with the Nebraska Wrestling Regional Training Center and competed as a training partner for Team USA during international competitions. He was a two-time NCAA Division I National Qualifier and served as team captain during the 2017-2018 season for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

McCrystal coached for Nebraska at the Big Ten Championships last March, where they qualified nine wrestlers for nationals and placed 3rd overall. He also served as an assistant coach at Morningside University, helping the team win the 2021 GPAC Tournament championship and coaching five wrestlers who qualified for the NAIA National Tournament in 2022. His coaching career began at The Arena Academy, where he developed athletes of all ages in wrestling techniques, conditioning, and mental focus.

McCrystal earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2018. His personal achievements include a gold medal at the Pan American Championships in 2019 and a 7th-place finish at the U23 World Championships in 2018.
