Cross Country to Begin Home Stretch of Season at A-R-C Championship

Lincoln, NE - Nebraska Wesleyan cross country looks to be peaking at the right time as the season begins its home stretch at the 2025 American Rivers Conference championship meet on Saturday.

ABOUT NEBRASKA WESLEYAN
Saturday will mark Nebraska Wesleyan's 10th appearance at the American Rivers Conference championship meet. The Prairie Wolf men are in search of their first title, while women aim to claim their third. This season, Nebraska Wesleyan's schedule consisted of four regular season meets, with the last meet taking place on Saturday, October 18th. The NWU men have earned top 10 finishes the Augustana Twilight (sixth) and Dan Hutson invite (fifth), while the women claimed eighth at the Dan Hutson Invite. The Prairie Wolf men will be led by Thomas Vasquez, who has been the team's top finisher at two of four races this season, after earning 31st at the championship meet in 2024. On the women's side, Delaney Vacek looks to improve upon last season's 29th place finish after finishing as NWU's top runner in three meets this season.

HEAD COACH CHAD BERENS
Chad Berens is in his third year as head coach for Nebraska Wesleyan cross country. Prior to joining NWU, Berens served as the director of track and field and cross country operations at the University of Utah.

NEBRASKA WESLEYAN CROSS COUNTRY TRADITION
Nebraska Wesleyan has a rich cross country tradition. The men's team has captured 22 conference championships, while the women's team has won 15. Nationally, the men have finished in the top 10 nine times, and the women have placed in the top 20 nine times.
