Women's Soccer Looks to Return to Form as Season Nears its Completion

Lincoln, NE - With just three matches remaining, Nebraska Wesleyan women's soccer seeks a return to its early season form as it hosts Buena Vista and visits Luther in the penultimate week of the season. 

LOCATION & MATCH TIME
Nebraska Wesleyan will host Buena Vista on Wednesday, October 22nd at 5:30 p.m. NWU will live stream the game and carry live stats. On Saturday, October 25th, Nebraska Wesleyan will take on Luther College at 12:00 p.m. Luther will live stream the game and carry live stats.

ABOUT THE PRAIRIE WOLVES
Nebraska Wesleyan is 0-1-1 on its current three game home stand after earning a 1-1 tie with Wartburg, before falling to Central 2-0. The Prairie Wolves Are 2-6-5 overall, and 0-3-2 in American Rivers Conference play. NWU has scored 20 goals thus far and averages 1.54 goals per game. The Prairie Wolves hold an impressive shot on goal percentage of 57.7, with 82 of 142 shots being on target. Leading the Black and Gold's offensive attack is junior forward Averie Hike, who has totaled seven goals on 38 shots, while adding three assists to lead the team in points with 17. Hike isn't alone on Nebraska Wesleyan's offense, with Emily Abeyta and Lexi Jantzen recording four and two goals respectively. Additionally, Hannah Churchill, Ava Reed, Payten Smith, Nella Castaneda, Emily Jasa, Emma Parker, and Mady Schoffstall have each scored one goal. Defensively, the Black and Gold allow 2.31 goals per game. Goalie Jena Schultz has made  76 saves, with a 76.0 save percentage.

Head Coach Robert Lynch is in his first year as the head coach at Nebraska Wesleyan, he holds an 2-6-5 record. 

NEBRASKA WESLEYAN WOMEN'S SOCCER TRADITION
Since the program's inception in 1993, Nebraska Wesleyan has won seven conference championships and holds an all-time record of 300-247-42.

LOOKING TO RETURN TO FORM
Nebraska Wesleyan enters this week looking to return to its early season form offensively, when the team posted a 2-3-3 record, while outscoring its opponents 18-15. During this stretch, Nebraska Wesleyan scored a season high seven goals in a 7-1 route of Cornell College. While the team has only scored two goals in its past five games, NWU has continued to find scoring chances, having taken 31 shots, with 15 making their way to the opposing goal keeper.

DEFENSE IS KEY
Nebraska Wesleyan has been a staunch defensive team throughout the season, holding seven of its 13 opponents to one or fewer goals, including a shut out performance against Concordia College. The Prairie Wolves are 1-1-5 in games when allowing one or fewer goals

SCOUTING BUENA VISTA
Buena Vista enters Wednesday with a 4-9-2 record after being dealt a 3-1 defeat by Simpson College in their last match. The Beavers average 0.93 goals per game and have taken 74 shots. Defensively, Buena Vista allows 2.53 goals per game. The Beavers are led by Mauricio Lozada, in his third season.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST BUENA VISTA
Wednesday will mark the 18th meeting between Nebraska Wesleyan and Buena Vista. The Prairie Wolves lead the all-time series 16-0-1.

SCOUTING LUTHER
Luther enters this week with a 6-6-2 record and is riding high off a 1-0 victory over Coe. Prior to hosting NWU, Luther will visit Simpson College on Wednesday, October 22nd, at 5:00 p.m. The Norse average 1.50 goals per game and have taken 183 shots. Defensively, Luther allows 1.14 goals per game. The Norse are led by Hollie Gray III, in his sixth season.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST LUTHER
Saturday will mark the 10th meeting between Nebraska Wesleyan and Luther. The Norse leads the all-time series 6-0-3.
