LINCOLN, Neb. (January 22nd, 2025) - After a short break from competition, Nebraska Wesleyan wrestling is set to compete against four conference opponents at the 2025 American Rivers Duals.

ABOUT NEBRASKA WESLEYAN
Nebraska Wesleyan has competed at 11 matches in 2024-25. The Prairie Wolves last competed at the Central Under Armour Invitational on Saturday, January 4th. Nebraska Wesleyan enters Saturday with a 1-5 record. The Prairie Wolves lone dual win occurred on December 14th, when NWU defeated Westminster 26-22. The Black and Gold are led by senior Jared Gallub who has posted a 3-2 record in dual competition.

ABOUT SIMPSON
Simpson enters Saturday having competed at 10 total meets with an 0-6 record in dual competition. The Storm last competed at the Cliff Keen-Mike Duroe Invitational on Saturday, January 18th. Simpson is led by Dylan Peters, who is in his sixth season.

ABOUT LUTHER
Luther enters Saturday having competed at 18 total meets with an 8-4 record in dual competition. The Norse are currently ranked 19th in the NWCA Coaches Poll. The Norse last competed at the Cliff Keen-Mike Duroe Invitational on Saturday, January 18th. The Norse are led by Dave Mitchell, who is in his 29th season.

ABOUT COE
Coe enters Saturday having competed at 13 total meets with an 6-3 record in dual competition. The Kohawks are currently ranked 11th in the NWCA Coaches Poll. The Kohawks loss to Loras in their last dual. Coe is led by John Oostendorp, who is in his 24th season.

ABOUT LORAS
Loras enters Saturday having competed at 19 total meets with an 10-5 record in dual competition. The Duhawks are currently ranked 9th in the NWCA Coaches Poll. The Duhawks beat Coe in their last dual. The Kohawks are led by Jeren Glosser, who is in his third season.

HEAD COACH COLTON MCCRYSTAL
Colton McCrystal is in his first season as the head coach at Nebraska Wesleyan. He holds an 1-5 record in dual competition. Prior to his arrival at NWU, McCrystal was an assistant coach at the University of Nebraska, where he helped nine athletes reach the NCAA Division One national wrestling tournament in 2023-24. McCrystal also was an assistant at Morningside College, where he helped the team win the 2021 GPAC tournament championship.

REVIVAL OF NEBRASKA WESLEYAN WRESTLING
Nebraska Wesleyan holds a storied and resilient wrestling history that is split into two eras. The original NWU wrestling program existed from 1962 to 1981. During that time, the Plainsmen won the NIAC in 1973, 74, and 75, while posting a dual record of 94-136-7. The wrestling program was dropped at the conclusion of the 1980-81 season. Then in 2016, after over 40 years, the program was reactivated as Nebraska Wesleyan joined the IIAC. Since wrestlings return, the Prairie Wolves have posted a 19-72 record in dual action. The program saw Eron Haynes earn All-American honors in 2019 and 2021, while also excelling in the classroom with four academic All-Americans.
