Box Score LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska Wesleyan University men's tennis delivered a commanding 6-1 victory over Hastings College on Thursday, dominating in singles and doubles play to secure a solid win against their GPAC opponent. The Prairie Wolves played well throughout the lineup, earning crucial points in both singles and doubles.
In doubles action, the pair of Jacob Balfany and Gavin Nichols set the tone with a 6-1 victory over Smeltzer and Mims at No. 1 doubles. The duo of Tyler Blair and Sam Rademacher followed up with a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles, defeating the Hafer brothers. At No. 3 doubles, Connor Kelley and Ian Armbrust secured a win by default, giving NWU an early advantage heading into singles play.
Nichols put on a stellar performance in singles, cruising to a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Mims at the No. 2 spot. Rademacher and Blair both earned identical 6-2, 6-4 victories over Ben and Alex Hafer at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively. Armbrust added another point with a 6-2, 6-1 win over George at No. 5 singles, while Kelley claimed a default win at No. 6. Balfany fought hard at No. 1 singles, but ultimately fell in a tight three-set match, 2-6, 7-5, 5-10, to Smeltzer.
