Track and Field Continues Successful Season at Home

LINCOLN, Neb. (April 12, 2024) - Nebraska Wesleyan track and field hosted Doane University in a dual on Friday afternoon. This was the first of three meets the Black and Gold will host throughout their outdoor season. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Avery Decker launched the javelin 45.02 meters, improving her national leading mark even further. Addie Thomas took second with a throw of 36.66 meters. 
  • Kaelyn Means threw the disc 41.87 meters, placing second in the women's discus throw. 
  • Eric Lenz launched the weight 15.19 meters, placing first in the men's shot put. 
  • Emmilly Berglund took second in the women's shot put, throwing the weight 12.72 meters.
  • Colin Wojtkiewicz and Ja'Dein Madison each took second in the hammer throw with throws of 53.08 meters and 50.63 meters, respectively. 
  • Bre Geary leaped to second in the long jump, clearing 5.36 meters. 
  • Morgan Conner cleared 6.84 meters in the men's long jump. This jump secured him the victory.
  • Emily Druse jumped over 1.46 meters in the women's high jump, placing second. 
  • Keeley Hourigan hurdled to second in the women's 100-meter hurdles. She finished with a time of 15.69.
  • Claire Kallhoff ran to second in the women's 1500 meter with a time of 5:13.88. 
  • Noah Smith competed in the men's 110 hurdles, finishing in 14.81. This time placed him second overall. 
  • Isabella Hogue made her return to the track, placing first in the women's 400 meter with a time of 55.21. This time put her at fifth in school history and third in the country. 
  • Gabe Anderson finished the men's 400 meter in 48.89, finishing in second place. 
  • Bre Geary sprinted to second in the women's 100 meter, finishing in 12.57. 
  • Delaney Vacek took first in the women's 800 meters with a time of 2:20.04.
  • Carter Siems placed second in the men's 800 meter. He ran to the finish line in 1:55.59.
  • Connor Plahn ran to second with a time of 55.77 in the men's 400-meter hurdles. Bethany Schuhmacher took second in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:07.64.
  • Kari Mathsen ran to a first-place finish in the women's 5000 meter, clocking in 19:32.82.
  • Gabe Anderson, Austin Nauert, Javier Kenney, and Morgan Conner took second in the men's 4x400 meter relay. The team ran it in 3:15.70, putting them sixth in the country.
  • Bre Geary, Isabella Hilger, Delaney Vacek, and Gabby Thomas finished second in the women's 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:58.67. 
RESULTS UP NEXT
The Prairie Wolves will travel to the Jim Dutcher Classic in Crete, Neb. The meet is set for Thursday, April 18th and Friday, April 19th.
