Throwers & Jumpers Find Success at Concordia Invitational

HOW IT HAPPENED

Due to inclement weather conditions, the Nebraska Wesleyan men's and women's track and field teams sent only throwers and vertical jumpers to the Concordia Invitational. The Prairie Wolves won two events over the course of another great outdoor weekend.
The javelin squad led the Prairie Wolves with Avery Decker taking the women's title. Decker took first with a throw of 43.57 meters. With a mark of 36.06 meters, Mackenna Witte came in second. Sam Homan finished third in the men's competition with a throw of 49.87 meters.
In the men's pole vault, Keegan Casey paced the Prairie Wolves with a height of 3.95 meters. Amelia Herbert represented the Prairie Wolves in the women's pole vault with a height of 2.95 meters.
The hammer throw featured Connor Wilcox taking eighth with a throw of 50.62 meters. Teammates Colin Wojtkiewicz, Eric Lenz and Ryan Cheznik also threw for marks of 48.75 meters, 42.48 meters and 40.08 meters, respectively.
With a throw of 14.97 meters, Lenz placed second in the men's shot put competition. Teammates Wojtikiewski, Owen Anthony, and Cheznik hit marks of 13.80 meters, 12.02 meters, and 11.14 meters, respectively. With a throw of 12.46 meters, Mackenna Witte of the Prairie Wolves took fourth place in the women's shot put. Marley Espinosa threw for 10.78 meters.
In the men's competition, two Prairie Wolfs competed in the discus throw. Eric Lenz led the Prairie Wolves with a toss of 36.65 meters. Colin Wojtkiewicz threw for 33.42 meters. Ellie Akough won the women's competition with a distance of 46.73 meters. With a throw of 41.88 meters, Mackenna Witte finished in second place.
With a height of 1.95 meters, Eli Mackowski led the Prairie Wolves in the men's high jump.
