Birmingham Alabama (March 11th, 2023)- The Nebraska Wesleyan Track and Field team came home with a National Champion and a National Runner-Up in the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships. The Prairie Wolves also had seven athletes receive All-American honors.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Eli Etherton put on an incredible performance in the finals of the men's 60-meter hurdles. Etherton ran a time of 8.00 and was crowned National Champion after an unbelievable photo finish. Eli also received his first All-American honor to cap off a very impressive indoor track season.
- Isabella Hogue ran a time of 7.63 in the women's 60-meter dash to receive her first career runner-up placement. Hogue also competed in the Women's 200-meter final and placed third, running a new personal best of 24.49. Hogue's performances increase her All-American total to six as a Prairie Wolf.
- Ellie Akough competed and placed seventh in the women's weight throw with a throw of 18.08 meters. Representing NWU for the first time at Nationals, Akough also received her first career All-American honor.
- Long jumper, Morgan Conner, finished sixteenth in a tough pool of competition with a jump of 6.80 meters. Conner now turns his attention to the outdoor season where he is looking to improve and turn heads.
- The men's 4x400 meter relay consisting of Kyle Dickinson, Ben Christenson, Gabe Anderson, and Garrett Lenners ran a new season best of 3:13.28 finishing fifth overall nationally. This relay team now has a combined total of 10 All-American honors after their monumental weekend.
- Garrett Lenners' fourth-place finish in the men's 800-meter dash earned him his fourth All-American honor and new personal best with a time of 1:50.39.
