Track and Field Dominates Concordia Classic

HOW IT HAPPENED

Nebraska Wesleyan traveled west to Seward, Nebraska to compete in the Concordia Classic.
It was a bad day to be a school record. Eli Etherton started things off by putting up a time of 8.08 in the prelims of the 60 M Hurdles. Etherton's impressive time broke a 12-year-old school record previously held by Kevin Janata. Etherton went on to win the event with a time of 8.11 in the finals.
In the women's weight throw, Ellie Akough finished third with a toss of 17.77 meters. That mark would etch her name at the top of the record books, snapping Amanda Brichacek's 12-year-old record.
Dallen Booker followed up his first-place finish from a week ago with a second-place finish and season-best at the Concordia Classic. In his last jump, Booker leaped 13.68 meters.
Alexa Koza shined in the women's 400-meter dash. The junior ran a personal best of 59.29 and placed second overall.
Kyle Dickinson separated himself from the pack in the men's 400-meter dash. After a first-place time of 49.08, the senior now sits seventh in the nation.
To finish off the night in the men's 4x400, the team of Ben Christenson, Kyle Dickinson, Gabe Anderson, and Garrett Lenners took home gold with a time of 3.18.62. Currently, that time is the fourth fastest in the country and the seventh fastest in school history.

The men's and women's track and field team takes a trip to Brookings, South Dakota on February 10 through February 11 to participate in the SDSU Classic. Start times are scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Friday and 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
