LINCOLN, Neb. (March 17, 2022) - The Nebraska Wesleyan men's tennis team shutout Sterling College, 9-0, inside Knight Fieldhouse in Lincoln. The victory gives NWU its first win of the season. 

The Prairie Wolves wasted little time setting the tone for a dominant victory. NWU cruised to win all three doubles points. Ryan Carey and Will Olson took the point at No. 1 Doubles, 8-4. Jacob Balfany and Hayden Retzlaff shut out their opponents, 8-0, at No. 2 Doubles with Daniel Bernhardson and Connor Kelley easily winning at No. 3 Doubles, 8-2.

The momentum carried into singles play with Nebraska Wesleyan all six points, five of those matches in straight sets. Ryan Carey picked up the victory in the top spot, 6-1, 6-1. In No. 2 Singles, Will Olson handled the competition with a 6-2, 6-0 victory. Both Hayden Retzlaff and Connor Kelley earned wins at No. 5 and No. 6 Singles by a score of 6-1, 6-3. After dropping the first set, Daniel Bernhardson stormed back to win the next two sets at No. 4 Singles. Bernhardson's match scores were 5-7, 6-6, 10-8.

NWU looks to build off the victory heading into a pair of A-R-C matches against Dubuque and Loras on Saturday, March 20 in Dubuque, Iowa.
