Swimming Opens A-R-C Invitational By Breaking A Program Record


DECORAH, Iowa (February 9, 2022) – The Nebraska Wesleyan men's and women's swimming teams opened the first day of the American Rivers Conference Invitational in Decorah, Iowa on Wednesday evening. 

NWU set the tone for the invitational by breaking a program record in the only event of the evening. The women's 800-yard freestyle relay of Audrey Kuta, Emma Hoffman, Quynn Kennedy, and Anna Schmid swam an 8:37.94 in the event. The team's time broke the old record, which was set in the 2019-2020 season, by four seconds.

The men's 800-yard freestyle relay team finished third in their race. The team of Marcus Cantorna, Jake Axelson, Eli Gosnell, and Sam Kelly recorded a time of 7:21.80 to finish third in the event. 

The A-R-C Invitational jumps into day two of events at 10 a.m. tomorrow with the 500-yard freestyle. Finals for day two begin at 5:30 p.m. with the 200-yard freestyle relay. Action on Friday and Saturday also begins with prelims at 10 a.m. and finals at 5:30 p.m. To see the complete schedule of events, click here.
