INDIANOLA, Iowa (May 1, 2021) - Nebraska Wesleyan men's tennis (2-6, 2-6 A-R-C) fell, 5-4, to Simpson College (6-10, 3-5 A-R-C) in Indianola, Iowa. The narrow one-point loss ended the Prairie Wolves season as they fell just a game short of earning a spot in the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Tournament.

NWU started the match strong by taking two of the three doubles points. Ryan Carey and Max Rademach used a 7-3 advantage in a tiebreaker to win 8-7, at No. 1 Doubles. In No. 3 Doubles, Hayden Retzlaff and Cole Lohoefener won a hard-fought match, 8-7. Simpson earned their first point by winning No. 2 Doubles.

Ryan Carey's comeback three-set victory, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, earned Nebraska Wesleyan a point at No. 1 Singles. Hayden Retzlaff scored another point with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 win at No. 5 Singles. The wins by Carey and Retzlaff allowed the Prairie Wolves to tie the match at 4-4 and keep their postseason hopes alive as No. 2 Singles played out. 

Simpson clinched the match as it barely escaped with a three-set victory, 7-6 (7-4), 3-6, 6-2, at No. 2 Singles. The loss ended NWU's postseason hopes and allowed the Storm to earn the final spot in the A-R-C Tournament.
