Baseball Drops First Two Games of Series At Coe

LINCOLN, Neb. (March 20, 2021) - The Nebraska Wesleyan baseball team (2-10, 0-6 A-R-C) dropped a doubleheader at Coe College (9-2, 5-1 A-R-C). The Kohawks won game one, 10-0, and game two, 6-3.

After being limited offensively in game one of the series, the Prairie Wolf bats came alive early in game two. NWU raced out with two runs on three hits in the first inning, started off by a leadoff double from Derek Kolbush. Kolbush moved to third on a Riley Ward single then scored from a John Haimowitz sacrifice fly. Later in the inning, another sacrifice fly scored Ward.

After Noah Unger recorded two strikeouts in the bottom of the first inning, NWU added another run in the top of the second inning. Trayven Boellstorff made it a 3-0 advantage when he was plated on the Prairie Wolves third sacrifice fly of the game, this one from Mason Bennett. However, Nebraska Wesleyan's offense went cold from there and could not match the Kohawk's six runs over the next three innings.

Unger and Carter Faultys combined to throw six strikeouts for NWU in game two. In game one, Braden Rump tallied three strikeouts.
