Biography

2022: Earned 1st Team All-Conference during his graduate year at NWU... earned 2nd Team All-Region by D3baseball.com and 3rd Team All-Region by the ABCA... signed a professional baseball contract with the Great Falls Voyagers of the Pioneer League, becoming the first Prairie Wolf under head coach John Rypel to earn a pro contract... appeared and started in 37 games at first base... set a program record with 13 home runs... tallied 56 hits, which is the second-most for a season in program history... finished the year with a .378 batting average, 38 RBIs, 13 doubles (tied for fifth in NWU history for single season doubles), a triple, and a .743 slugging percentage... recorded 15 multi-hit games and 12 multi-RBI games during the season... was 4 for 5 with a home run, four RBI and two doubles vs. Coe College (4/1)... had a 2 for 3 game with a double and a home run, two RBI and three runs scored vs. Wartburg (5/7).

2021: Became NWU's First D3baseball.com All-Central Region Selection Since Joining the American Rivers Conference (Third-Team Selection)-...Named First-Team All-American Rivers Conference....was 2nd on the team in batting average with a .338 including a team-high 9 home runs...the 9 home runs are the third most in a season in program history...while starting in all 40 games he tagged a total of 88 bases-also a team-high...of his 142 at bats, posted 48 hits with 13 of those being doubles...his 38 runs batted in was good enough for 3rd in the American Rivers Conference...ranked 6th in the A-R-C with 14 doubles...ranked 3rd in the A-R-C with 9 home runs...ranked 2nd in the A-R-C with 29 walks...named A-R-C Player of the Week on May 3rd...played multiple positions for the Prairie Wolves in 2021, most of them coming from first base while having only 3 errors on the year earning a .988 fielding percentage....

2020:  Was once again a key component of the Prairie Wolf offense and defense...in the shortened season he posted a .320 batting average with 9 doubles...Kolbush was on pace to shatter the previous doubles record held by Tony Dutter recorded in 1997...during his junior campaign he recorded 50 at bats with 16 of those resulting in a hit, two of those being a round-tripper...DK secured runs by batting .345 with runners in scoring position, helping kickstart a new brand of baseball the Prairie Wolves aim to keep going into 2021...was also a speedster on the base paths where he was perfect with a 1.000 stolen-base percentage...as a defender fielded .950 and assisted in 8 double plays.

2019: Earned 2nd-Team All-Conference honors at first base … also named honorable mention All-Nebraska by the World Herald … led the Prairie Wolves in nearly every offensive category … bated .354 with 4 HR and 32 RBI … in conference play he finished with 20 RBI to tie for 4th in the league … his conference batting average was 14th … posted 14 multi-hit games and nine multi-RBI games … ended season reaching base in 15 straight games … had season-long streak of 19 straight games reaching base … started 32 games at first base and three at third base … in record setting game vs. Luther went 3-for-6 with a HR, 2B, four RBI and four runs scored … ended series against Luther with eight hits, seven RBI and seven runs … went 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBI in team’s first win over Wesleyan on Mar. 15 … had five games with three hits.  

2018: Played 33 games making 30 starts in his first season with the Prairie Wolves … became one of the team’s top offensive performers … batted .346 with 36 hits to rank second on the team in both categories … led the team with 18 RBI … started 30 games at first base … ended the season reaching base in 17 straight games … had a team-high 11 multiple hit games … hit his first career HR at Central on April 17 … in win over Central on April 24 blasted another HR .. was 2-4 with two doubles in conference opener vs Coe … put together a six-game hitting streak from April 2-13 recording 10 hits with seven RBI during the stretch … in season final series at Dubuque went 3-6 with two doubles and an RBI. 

Academic: Graduated with a degree in accounting, currently seeking a masters degree in business administration.

In High School: A three-year letterwinner in baseball at Lincoln Pius X HS … helped lead the Thunderbolts to a pair of State Championships … started three years … also participated in basketball.
