Men’s Tennis Blanks Dubuque For Spring Opening Win


LINCOLN, Neb, (March 20, 2021) - Nebraska Wesleyan men's tennis (1-0, 1-0 A-R-C) blanked Dubuque (1-7, 0-2 A-R-C), 9-0, to start the spring season off undefeated. 

The Prairie Wolves started the match hot by winning all three doubles points. Ryan Carey and Max Rademacher teamed up at No. 1 doubles to win 8-2. Will Olson and Vinh Le won at No. 2 doubles 8-7 and 7-5. In No. 3 doubles, Cole Lohoefener and Hayden Retzlaff cruised to an 8-0 victory.

The momentum from doubles carried into the singles action for NWU. Carey won the second tiebreaker of the first-set 7-6 and won the second set 6-2 to earn the win at No. 1 singles. Rademacher claimed No. 2 singles in straight sets, 6-0 and 6-2. At No. 3 singles, Olson bounced back after dropping the first set by winning 6-2 in the second and 10-6 in the third. Lohoegener took No. 4 singles 6-1 and 7-5. Vinh Le cruised to victory at No. 5 singles winning both sets by a 6-3 margin. Retzlaff rounded out the NWU lineup with a 6-0 shutout in both sets at No. 6 singles.
