Duhawks Bests Prairie Wolf Baseball in Saturday Doubleheader

LINCOLN, Neb. (March 20, 2021) - The Nebraska Wesleyan baseball team (2-8, 0-4 A-R-C) dropped a doubleheader to Loras College (7-1, 4-0 A-R-C). The Duhawks won game one, 15-6, and game two, 14-4, in seven innings.

Game One Recap
Nebraska Wesleyan scored its first run of the game in the third inning when Noah Unger crossed the plate off a Loras error. The next inning, Derek Kolbush sailed his first home run of the game to left field for NWU's second run of the game. The Prairie Wolves loaded the bases in the fourth inning and started a three-run rally when Paul Georget's sacrifice fly scored Noah Unger. Mason Bennett drove in Angel Reynoso in the next at-bat. Kolbush then cleared the bases with the following at-bat for his second home run of the game. However, the Duhawk defense would shut down the Nebraska Wesleyan offense the rest of the way.

Game Two Recap
After the Duhawks scored three runs in the first inning, NWU answered with a run of its own in the bottom half of the inning. John Haimowitz drove a single through the left side to plate Derek Kolbush and made it a 3-1 game. Loras countered with eight runs over the next five innings. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Kaleb Knox scored on a passed ball then Aaron Nichols knocked a two-run home run to cut the Duhawk advantage to seven runs. However, the momentum would be halted and Loras answered with three runs in the top of the seventh to win the game.
