LINCOLN, Neb. (March 19, 2021) - The Nebraska Wesleyan baseball team (2-6, 0-2 A-R-C) dropped its American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) opener to Loras College (5-1, 2-0 A-R-C). NWU narrowly lost game one, 6-5, and fell in game two, 16-7.
Paul Georget had three consecutive doubles in game two for the Prairie Wolves.Â
Game One Recap
A seventh-inning rally nearly resulted in a walk-off win for the Prairie Wolves. Trailing 6-1 in the final inning, NWU loaded the bases with John Haimowitz at the plate. Hamowitz belted a pitch to left-center for a grand slam to make it a one-run game. However, Loras would retire the next two batters to escape the inning and win game one.
Game Two Recap
After the Duhawks took an early lead with three runs in the first two innings, Nebraska Wesleyan made it a one-run game with back-to-back doubles. Paul Georget started the rally as he put Alex Angele on third, Angele capitalized on an error to score during the play. Mason Bennett then drove in Georget. After Loras added five runs in the top of the third, NWU put two runs on the board as John Haimowitz scored on a Noah Unger single. Another Geroget double drove in Angel Reynoso to make it 8-4.
In the bottom of the fifth, Geroget recorded his third consecutive double of the game. Mason Bennett homered to left-center field to cut the lead down to 13-6 with the next at-bat. After the Duhawks tacked on runs in the seventh and eighth, John Haimowitz used a single to score Derek Kolbush.Â

Nebraska Wesleyan finishes its conference opener against Loras with another doubleheader on Saturday, March 20 at NWU Field. Game one is set to begin at 12 p.m.
