Women’s Swimming Extends Winning Streak, Men’s Swimming Drops First Dual


DUBUQUE, Iowa (February 5, 2021) - The Nebraska Wesleyan women's swimming team extended its winning streak to three with a, 92-76, win over Loras. The NWU men's swimming team fell to Loras, 109-99, for its first loss of the 2020-2021 season.

The Prairie Wolves were led by Esme Sipp and Colleen Arnold as both won multiple events. Sipp claimed the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:17 as Arnold won the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:56.44. The duo teamed up with Kennedy Carlson and Josie Ford to be a part of the winning 200-yard medley relay as it won the event in 2:00.24. 

Dani Wheeler also earned a win for Nebraska Wesleyan in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 5:25.75. Kate Loeffelholz won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 58.75 and Emma Hoffman won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:55.98.

The NWU men's team won the swimming portion of the dual but Loras picked up 18 points in diving, just enough to win the match-up. The Prairie Wolves were led by Sam Kelly as he won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 50.33, the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:09.56, and was a member of the winning 200-yard medley relay. Cael Dice had a hand in three wins for Nebraska Wesleyan, as he won the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 1:56.04 and was a member of the 200-yard medley relay and 200-yard freestyle relay. 

In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Kelly and Dice were joined by Eli Gosnell and Andrew Oberg for a winning time of 1:30.95 as Dice teamed up with Gosnell, Oberg, and Ethan Schmaderer in the 200-yard medley relay for a winning time of 2:00.24. Schmaderer also added a win in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:19.77. Jake Axelson earned a win in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:21.22.
