NWU Takes Down Blue Jays, Griffins

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (November 10, 2021) - The Nebraska Wesleyan wrestling team notched road dual wins against Westminster and Fontbonne. NWU dropped the Blue Jays, 41-16, then nearly shut out the Griffins, 54-3. The Prairie Wolves won nine matches by pins between the two duals and have now won four of their last five non-conference duals.

Nebraska Wesleyan dualed Westminster to open the afternoon. Dawson Schwerdtfeger and Eron Haynes both received forfeit wins in their weight classes before Keegan Casey scored a tech fall at 149lbs. Casey's win ignited a run of four straight pins for NWU to propel them to victory.

The Prairie Wolves rode the momentum into the Fontbonne dual. Nebraska Wesleyan dominated the Griffins with six wins by pin. Van Schmidt highlighted the dual with a pin in just 1:14 to earn a victory at 141lbs. Schmidt, Isaiah Graves, and Collin Quandt all pinned their opponents in less than two minutes.
