CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Nebraska Wesleyan University senior women's basketball player
Caitlin Navratil is this week's American Rivers Conference Women's Athlete of the Week as well as Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week.
Navratil (Littleton, Colo./Dakota Ridge) averaged 29.5 points in two games this past weekend as the Prairie Wolves went 1-1.
She scored 37 points in the 79-71 victory over McMurry University, to record the second highest single game scoring total in NWU Women's basketball history. She was 13-24 from the floor and 10-12 at the free throw line to set her new career-high. In addition to her big scoring night, she added four steals and five rebounds.
In the season opener against Grinnell, Navratil scored 22 points with a team-high six assists.
Navratil's 37-point performance is the 5
th best scoring output in a NCAA III women's game this season. She currently ranks 5
th in the nation in scoring.
The senior guard is the 2
nd all-time leading scorer in Prairie Wolves history and needs just 71 more points to become the program's all-time career leading scorer.
This is the second time in her career that Navratil has received American Rivers Conference Female Athlete of the Week honors.
Nebraska Wesleyan closes out their 3-game homestand on Tuesday night (Nov. 19) when they host Westminster College in Snyder Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 pm.
