LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Wesleyan football team will hit the road this Saturday (Sept. 29) as they head to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to face Coe College in American Rivers Conference football action. Kickoff between the Prairie Wolves and Kohawks is set for 1 pm at Clark Field.
Saturday marks a historic day for the Nebraska Wesleyan football program as they are playing the 1,000
th game in school history.
NWU is looking for their first conference win of the season on Saturday. The Prairie Wolves enter the game at 1-3 overall and 0-2 in American Rivers action. Coe is 2-2 on the season and 1-1 in conference play as they earned their first league win of the year last week at Buena Vista.
This is the first ever trip to Cedar Rapids, Iowa for the Prairie Wolves football team as the initial two meetings between the two teams were both played in Lincoln. Coe has won both previous matchups.
Nebraska Wesleyan wants to get back on track after suffering a 42-14 loss in the home opener last Saturday to conference favorite Wartburg. The NWU offense was held to under 225 total yards for the second time this year, but the Prairie Wolves did score two late touchdowns and hope to carry that momentum into this week. On defense, the Prairie Wolves want to create more turnovers as they have only three takeaways through the first four games.
Coe is 2-2 on the year, with both wins coming on the road. They have lost home games to Augustana College in the season opener and dropped a 27-18 setback to Dubuque in the conference opener. The Kohawks two victories are against Cornell College and last week's 35-14 win at Buena Vista.
