LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska Wesleyan picked up their first dual victory of the season on Saturday as NWU competed at the 6-team Prairie Wolf Duals that were held at Snyder Arena.
NWU opened the day with a 36-14 setback to the University of Ozarks, then came back to defeat University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's second team 34-24. The final match of the day saw UW-Eau Claire getting past the Prairie Wolves 40-15.
Eron Haynes,
Alex Kerr and
Ben Lodema all went 3-0 on the day to lead the Prairie Wolves. Haynes won by 9-3 decision over Muniz of Ozarks, then recorded a pair of tech fall wins over the opponents from UW-Eau Claire. Kerr won by fall over Cannon of Ozarks in the morning match, then quickly won by fall in 0:25 against Balconi of UW-Eau Claire in his other match. His third match was won by forfeit. Lodema had a 17-1 tech fall to start the day, then posted a 11-1 major decision over Olson of UW-Eau Claire.
In the dual victory over the second Bluegolds team,
Dustin Monroe won by tech fall over Zachary Kelsey and
Justin Hennessy won by fall over Paul Carter.
The Prairie Wolves are now off until after the holiday break when they take on Buena Vista University in American Rivers Conference action on January 10.
