Box Score CRETE, Neb. -- Doane College set a new school record by making 16 3-pointers as the Tigers shot past Nebraska Wesleyan 100-61 in GPAC women's basketball action on Wednesday night in the final meeting between the two teams as conference foes.
A huge run in the 2nd quarter was also the difference in the game between the long time rivals. Doane led by just one point 24-23 at the end of the 1st quarter. Later in the 2nd quarter the game was tied 29-29.
From there, the Tigers outscored the Prairie Wolves 24-2 over a stretch of seven minutes. A
Felicia TeKolste free throw at the 7:31 mark of the 2nd quarter tied the game. The Prairie Wolves scored just two points over the next six minute stretch as Doane jumped ahead 53-31 with just over a minute before halftime. During that run, the Tigers nailed six 3-pointers.
The 3-point shooting continued in the second half as Doane hit 7-10 from long range in the second half for 70 percent. They were 5-7 in the 3rd quarter outscoring NWU by 12 points.
NWU shot 33.8 percent from the floor for the game, making just 12 shots after the first period.
Felicia TeKolste led the way for the Prairie Wolves with 16 points, with 14 of those points coming in the 1st quarter. TeKolste was 5-6 in the 1st quarter and 0-8 from the field the rest of the way.
Also reaching double figures was
Alli Kalal with 14 points as she hit 4-7 from 3-point range.
Doane had five players in double figures for the game as they shot 56.5 percent on field goal attempts. Hannah Barnard had a huge game with 29 points, making 8-10 from 3-point land.
