FREMONT, Neb -- The 2015 season came to a close for the Nebraska Wesleyan University men's tennis team on Friday as they lost in the quarterfinals of the GPAC Postseason Tournament.
Third-seeded Morningside College defeated the No. 6 seed Prairie Wolves 5-0 on Friday to advance the tournament semifinals and end the season for NWU.
Nebraska Wesleyan played with its youngest and most inexperienced lineup in recent years for the 2015 year. The Prairie Wolves finished the season 2-19 overall as they did not win a GPAC match and lost the final 11 matches of the year.
The Prairie Wolves were competitive in the doubles matches against Morningside. Trevor Milbur and
Hale Breit lost 8-6 at No. 1 doubles with
Pedro Bethlem and
Jordan Pieper falling 8-4 at No. 2 doubles. The No. 3 doubles match had
Andrew Finkner and
Christian Cannon losing 8-3.
Only two singles matches were completed as
Andrew Finkner lost 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4 and
Jordan Pieper lost 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5.
