GRINNELL, Iowa -- The Nebraska Wesleyan track & field teams performed well in their final tuneup before the conference championships. The NWU women placed 2nd as a team, with the men finishing 3rd at the Darren Young Invite at Grinnell College.
Nebraska Wesleyan won three events in the women's side and finished with 79 team points. Wartburg College won the meet with 126 points.
Katie Krick was a double winner to lead the Prairie Wolves. Krick won the 200 meters in a time of 26.05. She also was the individual champion in the 400 meters with a time of 58.06.
The other winner for the NWU women was
Sarah Oligmueller in the pole vault. Oligmueller had a personal best mark of 10-6 to win the event. That height puts her 4th on the NWU charts for indoor pole vault.
Nebraska Wesleyan also fared well in the women's shot put as three of the top five placers were Prairie Wolves.Â
Samantha Dolezal placed 2nd,
Brittany Edson 3rd and Ciarra Voycheske took 5th place.
The NWU men scored 92 team points to finish third place, one point behind 2nd place Wartburg. Augustana was the team champion with 152.66 points.
Two Prairie Wolves were individual winners on the men's side.Â
Jordan Flemington won the 60 meters in a time of 7.01. Two other teammates were in the top four with Zack Holka taking 3rd place and
Craig Timmons in 4th.
The other winner was
Garrett Sellhorst in the men's triple jump. Sellhorst had a mark of 46-0.5 to win the event by nearly five feet. Teammate AJ Farrand finished 2nd in the triple jump at 41-8.75. Farrand was also 2nd place in the pole vault at 14-1.
NWU placed 2nd in the 4x400 relay as the team of
Garrett Teel, Zack Holka,
Jordan Flemington and
Tanner Dewey ran a time of 3:22.13. Teel and Dewey were in the top four of the open 400 meters placing third and fourth, respectively.
