Box Score VERMILLION, S.D. --Nebraska Wesleyan scored 21 fourth quarter points as the Prairie Wolves went on the road and earned their first victory of the season with a 38-28 victory over Briar Cliff on Saturday night (Sept. 20) at the Dakota Dome in Vermillion, S.D.

Tyler Francis set a new career record with 30 completions with two TD passes to lead the NWU offense.
Francis hit
Connor Zumpfe for a 12-yard TD reception in the fourth quarter to put NWU ahead 24-20 and they would never trail again. On Briar Cliff's next possession, the Prairie Wolves forced a fumble and
Riley Shoemaker returned 31 yards for a touchdown. It was the second defensive touchdown on the day as
Kalen Vandenberg returned an interception for a TD to start the third quarter.
On offense, it was all through the air for the Prairie Wolves. Francis completed 30-46 passes for 315 yards with two touchdowns. The 30 completions broke his own school record of 29 completions in a game.
Connor Zumpfe was the favorite target of Francis on Saturday night as he had a career high 11 catches for 136 yards with a touchdown.Â
Shaka Taylor made five receptions out of the backfield and also ran for 44 yards to lead all NWU ball carriers.
Kalen Vandenberg led all NWU players with 12 tackles while
Seth Wardyn made 11 total stops.
