Hastings College defeated Nebraska Wesleyan 5-1 in the championship match of the 2014 Great Plains Athletic Conference men's tennis postseason tournament in Fremont, Neb.
With the win Hastings earns the GPAC's automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament. Nebraska Wesleyan finishes the season with an 11-8 record.
NWU got one doubles victory to begin the match as
Lucas Asnis and Gui Plentz joined up to win 9-7 at No. 1 doubles. Hastings won No. 2 doubles, 8-5 and got the win at No. 3 doubles 8-1.
In singles play, the Broncos recorded three wins at No. 2, No. 5 and No. 6 singles to seal the victory. All three matches were decided by scores of 6-1, 6-0.
NWU reached the tournament championship by earning at 5-1 win over Concordia in the GPAC Semifinals.
