Men's Tennis Hands Bulldogs First GPAC Loss

Nebraska Wesleyan men's tennis blanked Concordia University 9-0 on Tuesday night (April 15) in Seward, Neb, as the Prairie Wolves handed the Bulldogs their first Great Plains Athletic Conference loss of the year.

NWU improves to 8-7 overall and 2-1 in GPAC, while Concordia falls to 8-6, 3-1 in conference play.  Hastings is now the lone undefeated team in men's conference tennis.

Nebraska Wesleyan won 8-5 at both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles and got an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles to sweep the Bulldogs in doubles play.

The Prairie Wolves then won all six singles matches in straight sets.  The closes match of the day came at No. 2 singles.  NWU's Gui Plentz defeated Javier Moreno from Concordia in scores of 7-6 (7-0), 7-6 (8-0) for the most highly contested singles competition.

NWU had little trouble in the rest of the singles matches including No. 3 singles where Zack Hicks blanked his opponent, Patriciio Esquivel, 6-0, 6-0.

Nebraska Wesleyan has just two GPAC regular season matches remaining, facing Morningside on April 26 then taking on Doane in a makeup match on April 28.
