The Nebraska Wesleyan men's tennis team split a pair of home matches on Saturday (Feb. 22) at Knight Fieldhouse in Lincoln.  NWU defeated Central College, 8-1, in the morning then fell 7-2 to William Jewell College.

Nebraska Wesleyan is now 2-3 on the season.

In the morning victory over Central College, the Prairie Wolves handed the Dutch their first loss of the year as they entered the match at 3-0.

NWU won all three doubles matches in highly contested matches, all decided by two points.  The Prairie Wolves won 9-7 at No. 1, 8-6 at No. 2 and 9-7 at No. 3 doubles.  In singles play, the Prairie Wolves won five of six matches with Central's lone win coming at No. 6 singles.

Lucas Asnis won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles for the biggest margin of victory in all of the matches.  NWU won all five singles matches in two sets.

In the 7-2 loss to William Jewell in the afternoon the Cardinals picked up three wins in doubles play to jump ahead 3-0.  Nebraska Wesleyan did win two singles matches on the day.  Gui Plentz defeated Jimmy Hunter, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 2 singles.  Trevor Milburn got past AJ Naanep at No. 5 singles, 7-6 (8-6), 6-0.
