Defenders Down Wolves on Senior Day

Box Score Nebraska Wesleyan pulled within eight points early in the second half but that was as close as they could get as Dordt College defeated the Prairie Wolves 72-53 in GPAC women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 15) at Snyder Arena.

NWU honored its two seniors on Saturday as Libby Henschke and Emily Leines were both in the starting lineup.  For Leines it was her first action of the season.

The Prairie Wolves shot 24.1 percent in the first half to trail Dordt 36-23 at the break.  In the second half, the Defenders remained hot from the outside hitting 4-5 from beyond the arc and 9-13 for the game.

NWU got solid play from its two inside players Bridget Bucher and Courtney Cook.  Bucher just missed a double-double of 16 points and nine rebounds, while Cook had 15 points and six rebounds.

Dordt had three players in double figures led by Abby Chapman who came off the bench for 16 points.  Chapman was 4-5 from 3-point range.  Kayla Broekhuis was a perfect 3-3 from 3-point range for 15 points, while Kim Kroeze score 12.

Nebraska Wesleyan will have one final home game on Wednesday as they host Doane College.
