7th-ranked Midland University outscored Nebraska Wesleyan by 16 points in the second half as the Warriors defeated the Prairie Wolves 78-59 in GPAC men's basketball action on Wednesday night (Jan. 29) in Fremont, Neb.

NWU has now dropped six of their last seven games to fall to .500 overall at 9-9 and 4-9 in GPAC play.  The Warriors picked up their 20th win of the year to move to 20-3 and 11-3 in GPAC.

Nebraska Wesleyan looked poised to pull the upset as the Prairie Wolves came out with emotion and took it to the Warriors early in the game.  After Midland took a 2-0 lead, they never led again until the final seconds of the first half as Alex Starkel scored on an old-fashioned 3-point play.

In the second half, the Prairie Wolves shot only 28.0 percent from the field while Midland shot 62.5 percent. Midland opened the second half on a 24-10 run during the first 10 minutes of the half to get a 17-point lead and put the game out of reach.

Trevor Johnson led Nebraska Wesleyan with 15 points and seven rebounds going 5-13 from the field and 5-13 at the free throw line.  Jonah Bradley scored 11 points hitting 3-5 from 3-point range with Tim Schweitzer adding 10 points.

Marcus Franklin led the Warriors with 17 points.  Ben Imig chipped in 16 points and Alex Starkel scored 15.
