Concordia University scored three unanswered goals after Nebraska Wesleyan had taken an early 1-0 lead and the Bulldogs went on to defeat the Prairie Wolves 4-2 in GPAC men's soccer action Saturday night (Oct. 15) at Bulldog Stadium in Seward, Neb.
NWU falls to 3-8-1 overall and 1-5 in the GPAC, while Concordia stays in the top half of the league standings with their 4-1 conference mark.
Kyle Jisa got the Prairie Wolves on the board early as he scored in the first five minutes of the match to put NWU ahead 1-0 and looking good early.
That early momentum was taken away quickly as Concordia responded with a goal of their own less than three minutes later to tie the match. Nathan Douglas then added another goal for the Bulldogs in the 23rd minute to give Concordia a 2-1 lead at halftime.
Concordia extended their lead to two goals in the 62nd minute as Chris DeFeyter scored on a penalty kick.
Alex Thorson responded for NWU as he made a penalty kick of his own in the 66th minute to get the Prairie Wolves back in the match. Another penalty kick goal for Concordia gave them the two-goal lead and they held on for the 4-2 win.
The Bulldogs managed a total of 18 shots in the match, while NWU was limited to just three total shots.
