Box Score LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Wesleyan women's tennis team suffered a 7-0 loss against Central College on Wednesday evening in the Prairie Wolves season opener in Lincoln.
The loss dropped the Prairie Wolves to 0-1 on the year, while the Dutch improved to 2-1 overall.
Central wasted no time jumping out to an early lead with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles positions. Emily Blom and Kennedy Harms gave the Dutch the early edge, claiming a 6-1 win on court No. 3, before Claire Smock and Sydney Peterson clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win at the No. 2 doubles spot.
Central remained in control throughout singles play, clinching the overall dual with five straight set victories on courts two through six.
Kylie Engelsman forced a third set tiebreak but lost narrowly 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-8).
Nebraska Wesleyan will return to action on Saturday, September 12 at Buena Vista in Storm Lake, Iowa.
