LINCOLN, Neb. – Behind a record-breaking performance, Nebraska Wesleyan men's golf placed third as a team and Harrison Weddell tied for fifth as an individual Thursday afternoon at the Blue River Invitational, opening the fall slate with a top three finish.

Nebraska Wesleyan (3, -21) set a program record with its 21-under 843 at Highlands Golf Course. The total shattered the school record by 25 strokes. Senior Harrison Weddell earned a top-five finish, tying the program record with his 7-under 209.

NWU fired rounds of 3-under, 9-under and 9-under to place third in the event. The team's 564 (-12) through 36 holes on Wednesday set a program record for the lowest 36-hole score in school history. The Prairie Wolves carded 68 birdies across their five-player lineup.

Weddell (T-5, -7) matched Geran Sander's school record with his 7-under 209. His rounds of 70-71-68 put him in a tie for fifth. His 14 birdies ranked in the top ten for the tournament, and he recorded only nine bogeys. The Elkhorn, Nebraska, native now owns one win, eight top fives, 14 top-10 finishes and 18 top-20s in his career.

Travis Tilford (T-9, -5) returned from his breakout junior season in good form, finishing tied for ninth after rounds of 73-71-67. His final-round 67 (-5) made him one of just seven Prairie Wolves ever to record a 67 or better round.

Jaiden Ronke (T-11, -4), shot two-over par in the first round before going six-under over the final 36 holes to share eleventh.

Jacob Cosimano (T-13, -3) finished inside the top 15. It marked his ninth top-20 finish of his career.

Brayden Schram (+5) tied for 34th to round out the NWU lineup.

The Prairie Wolves will train over the next two weeks before competing at the Bent Tree Intercollegiate Showcase (Sept. 21-22).
