Lincoln, NE - Nebraska Wesleyan softball heads to Florida to compete in the week long Space Coast Games.

SPACE COAST GAMES INFORMATION
Nebraska Wesleyan will play 12 games from Sunday, March 8th, through Saturday, March 14th. Each game will be played at the USSSA Space Coast Complex, in Melbourne, Florida. The official tournament website can be found here.

ABOUT NEBRASKA WESLEYAN
Nebraska Wesleyan opened its season with a 2-2 showing at the Bethany Qwik Trip Invitational. The Prairie Wolves finished the weekend with a team slash ling of .250/.345/.320, with 16 runs scored and 29 hits. Leading the offense was senior Jenna Kimberling, who had five hits and seven RBIs, while holding a slugging percentage of .917. Kenzie Heedum was another key weapon for NWU offensively, scoring five runs, recording seven hits and swiping two bases. Defensively, the Black and Gold allowed 12 runs and maintained a fielding percentage of .971. The NWU pitching staff was excellent, posting a 1.98 team ERA, with Eva Fahrnbruch and Hannah Allen each securing one win while combining for seven strikeouts. . 

HEAD COACH COURTNEY MEDINA
Courtney Medina is in her first season as the head coach at Nebraska Wesleyan and holds a 2-2 record. Medina comes to Lincoln after serving three seasons at Western Nebraska. 

EARLY SEASON AWARDS
Thanks to their strong season opening performances, Jenna Kimberling and Eva Fahrnbruch swept the inaugural A-R-C weekly awards. Kimberling was named position player of the week after posting a .417 batting average, with four extra base hits and seven RBIs. Fahrnbruch earned pitcher of the week after a busy weekend which saw her pitch 13 innings over two games while earning a 1-1 record. Fahrnbruch held a 1.05 weekend ERA and pitched a shutout to help NWU defeat Gustavus Adolphus 2-0. 

SUNSHINE STATE SPOTLIGHT
Since 2017, Nebraska Wesleyan has competed in Florida in all but one season and has posted a 69-19 record. NWU has won nine or more games in Florida in five of eight trips, which includes last year's 10-2 showing.
