LINCOLN, Neb. - The Nebraska Wesleyan softball team continued non-conference play this Friday afternoon, dropping a pair of conference contests to the Concordia Bulldogs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1 - Concordia 8, Nebraska Wesleyan 4
NWU came up just short in the first contest, falling 8-4, after Concordia's big five-run fifth inning.
Both teams showcased strong pitching performances throughout the game, opening with a scoreless first inning. Concordia capitalized on a late opportunity, using a walk and two singles to bring up Tobi Topp who drilled a three run home run. The rally continued after that with two more singles and a double to plate one more run and extend the Bulldogs lead to 7-4.
Eva Fahrnbruch turned in a solid outing in the circle for Nebraska Wesleyan tossing a complete game 7.0 innings while allowing eight earned runs on 13 hits. She struck out none and walked four.
Offensively, the Prairie Wolve were limited but found some success on the base paths.
Paige Comstock led the team with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate, while the P-Wolves added pressure with eight hits.
Game 2 - Concordia 8, Nebraska Wesleyan 5
In game two, Nebraska Wesleyan fell behind early as Concordia started strong to secure a 8-5 victory.
The Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead in the first inning, plating four runs on a series of extra-base hits and timely singles. After Nebraska Wesleyan responded with a four run first inning themselves, Concordia extended its advantage in the second with another run, and again in the third with two runs.
Nebraska Wesleyan responded offensively but was unable to fully close the gap.
Kylie Fullerton led the Prairie Wolves with four RBIs from the seventh spot in the lineup, while
Addyson Maxell recorded two hits at the top of the order.
Fahrnbruch took the loss in the circle, working a complete game 7.0 innings.

Nebraska Wesleyan returns to action Wednesday, April 1, as the Prairie Wolves travel to Loras in their A-R-C opening match-up. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
