Softball to Host Doane, Concordia in Four Game Homestand

Lincoln, NE - After playing 16 games in Minnesota and Florida to begin the year, Nebraska Wesleyan softball is set to host Doane and Concordia as part of a four game home stand.

DATE, LOCATION, LIVE STREAM & LIVE STATS
Nebraska Wesleyan is set to play a double header against Doane on Wednesday, March 18th, before hosting Concordia on Friday, March 20th. First pitch for both game ones is 4:00 PM, with game two to follow at 6:00 PM. All games will be played at Sandhills Global Youth Complex, in Lincoln, NE. Nebraska Wesleyan will live stream each game and carry live stats.

ABOUT NEBRASKA WESLEYAN
After a 2-2 showing at the Bethany Kwik Trip Invitational, and a lengthy 12 game trip to Florida, Nebraska Wesleyan returns home to Lincoln sporting an 8-8 record. Offensively, the Black and Gold have been led by Jenna Kimberling, who has a slash line of .380/.620/.466, while racking up 19 hits, 18 runs, and 16 RBIs. However, Kimberling isn't the only offensive weapon for NWU, with Addyson Maxell, Eva Fahrnbruch, Kenzie Heedum, Taylor Korecky, Paige Comstock, and Ella Wolff each recording at least 10 hits and combining for 34 RBIs. As a team the Black and Gold have posted a slash line of .278/.362/.347, with 81 runs scored on 125 hits. The Prairie Wolves have 22 extra base hits in addition to four home runs. Defensively, Nebraska Wesleyan has posted a .980 fielding percentage. pitcher Eva Fahrnbruch holds a 5-3 record and has posted a 2.36 ERA, while allowing 58 hits and recording 17 strikeouts. The Prairie Wolves have a team ERA of 3.49.

HEAD COACH COURTNEY MEDINA
Courtney Medina is in her first season as the head coach at Nebraska Wesleyan and holds a 8-8 record. Medina comes to Lincoln after serving three seasons at Western Nebraska Community College. 

FAMILIAR FACES IN DIFFERENT PLACES
While Nebraska Wesleyan has storied rivalries with both Doane and Concordia, Wednesday and Friday will mark the first meetings between the teams at Sandhills Global Youth Complex. 

HIGH OCTANE OFFENSE & STOUT DEFENSE
Nebraska Wesleyan is off to a red-hot start offensively to begin the season. The Prairie Wolves have scored five or more runs in nine of 16 games. This includes a season high 14 run performance against Monmouth in the NWU's first Space Coast game. NWU is 7-2 when scoring five or more runs. The Prairie Wolf defense has also been efficient thus far, posting two shut outs while holding six opponents to two runs or fewer.

SCOUTING DOANE
Doane enters this week riding a four game winning streak and sits at 11-10 overall. The Tigers maintain a slash line of .314/.390/.479, with 126 runs on 176 hits. Defensively, Doane carries a fielding percentage of .948 with pitchers combining for an ERA of 4.04. The Tigers are led by Samantha Valadez-Haralabidis, in her first season.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST DOANE
Wednesday will mark the first meeting between Nebraska Wesleyan and Doane since 2019. The teams have met 102 times with the Prairie Wolves holding a 53-49 edge in the all-time series. 

SCOUTING CONCORDIA
Concordia enters this week 9-7 overall. Prior to facing NWU, the Bulldogs will play a double header against Midland on March 18th.Concordia holds a slash line of .313/.363/.453, with 79 runs on 130 hits. Defensively, Concordia carries a team ERA of 4.31. The Bulldogs are led by Brock Culler, in his fourth season.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST CONCORDIA
Friday will mark the first meeting between Nebraska Wesleyan and Concordia since 2024. The teams have met 120 times with the Bulldogs holding a 63-57 edge in the all-time series.
