Nadia Almanza Joins Nebraska Wesleyan Softball Staff as Assistant Coach

LINCOLN, Neb. - Nadia Almanza has been named assistant coach for the Nebraska Wesleyan softball program, Head Coach Courtney Medina announced. Almanza joins the Prairie Wolves as the team prepares for its first pitch this Saturday, bringing a wealth of experience as both a player and coach to the program.

Almanza most recently served as interim head coach at Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, from September to December 2025. During her time, she led daily practice planning, implemented targeted player development drills, coordinated recruiting and retention efforts, and managed team travel, all while maintaining a focus on academic eligibility. She previously served as Medina's assistant at Western Nebraska.

"We are excited to welcome Nadia as our new assistant coach to the NWU softball program," Medina said. "Her knowledge of the game, passion for player development, and commitment to excellence align perfectly with the culture that is here. We're confident she will make an immediate and lasting impact on our student-athletes and our program."

Prior to her coaching career, Almanza played at East Texas Baptist University, where she was part of the 2024 Division III National Championship team, the program's first title since 2010. Her collegiate career began at Navarro College in 2022, where she was named to the NJCAA All-Conference Team and elected team captain during her lone season with the Bulldogs.

Almanza is already working with the Prairie Wolves, bringing energy and insight to practices, drills, and game preparation. "I'm excited and honored to join Nebraska Wesleyan University as the new assistant softball coach," Almanza said. "Coming from a Division III program, I value the balance of competitive athletics, academics, and strong team culture. I look forward to bringing that perspective while continuing to develop student-athletes both on the field and in the classroom. I'm grateful for the opportunity and ready to get to work."

Almanza graduated from East Texas Baptist in 2025 with a degree in psychology. Her experience at multiple levels of collegiate softball gives her a unique perspective on coaching, practice design, and helping players maximize their potential both on the field and in the classroom.
