Men's Soccer Kicks Off Season with Two Game Trip to Minnesota

Lincoln, NE (August 28th, 2025) - Nebraska Wesleyan men's soccer is set to kick off its season with matches against St. John's University, and Concordia College, this weekend. 

GAME TIME, LOCATION, LIVE STREAM & LIVE STATS
On Friday, August 29th, Nebraska Wesleyan will play at St. John's University, with kick off scheduled for 11:30 a.m., in Collegeville, Minnesota. St. John's will live stream the match and carry live stats. On Sunday, NWU will travel to Moorhead, Minnesota to take on Concordia College at 1:00 p.m. Concordia College will live stream the game.

A LOOK AT NEBRASKA WESLEYAN
Nebraska Wesleyan took a giant step up in 2024, posting its second straight double digit win season and reaching the American Rivers Conference final for the first time. Last season, the Prairie Wolves scored 1.60 goals per game, with 126 shots on goal. Defensively, the Black and Gold were strong in goal, with Zachary Weis recording 100 of the team's 104 saves at a .826 save percentage.  In 2025, the Prairie Wolves are primed for more success, with many returners from last years team. This includes Caden Tubaugh, who scored three goals, while contributing two assists, and two time all-conference selection Owen Glogowski

HEAD COACH BRANDON BONILLA
Head Coach Brandon Bonilla enters his eighth season at the helm, coming off back-to-back 10-win seasons and the program's first appearance in the A-R-C championship match. Bonilla holds a 50-48-15 record. 

NEBRASKA WESLEYAN MEN'S SOCCER TRADITION
The Prairie Wolves have claimed four conference championships and hold an all-time record of 308-241-48, highlighted by an undefeated 19-0 season in 1999. The last time the Prairie Wolves were crowned conference tournament champions was in 2001.

SCOUTING ST.JOHN'S UNIVERSITY
St. John's University posted a 6-8-1 record while competing in the MIAC. The Johnnies scored 34 goals on 237 shots, with 100 being shots on goal. Defensively, SJU recorded 79 saves and allowed 25 goals. The Johnnies are led by first year head coach Tudor Flintham.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST ST. JOHN'S UNIVERSITY
Friday will mark the third meeting between Nebraska Wesleyan and St. John's. The Johnnies lead the all-time series 2-0.

SCOUTING CONCORDIA COLLEGE
Concordia College posted a 1-13-3 record while competing in the MIAC. The Cobbers scored seven goals on 124 shots, with 57 being shots on goal. Defensively, Concordia recorded 98 saves and allowed 40 goals. The Cobbers are led by John Hedin, in his second season.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST CONCORDIA COLLEGE
Sunday will mark the eighth meeting between Nebraska Wesleyan and Concordia College. The Prairie Wolves lead the all-time series 6-1.
